Knowledge and Research Center for Alternative Medicine (ViFAB).

ViFAB is a center under the Danish Ministry of the Interior and Health.

ViFAB's Vision

At ViFAB we experience a growing demand for impartial counselling on alternative medicine for citizens, for continuing education of health care staff and alternative practitioners and for research into alternative medicine. Thus ViFAB wishes to widen its sphere of activities.

ViFAB’s mission is to contribute to the creation of an efficient and accessible Knowledge Market Place for alternative therapies and herbal medicine. What a Knowledge Market Place means is a foundation of forums in which knowledge of alternative therapies and herbal medicine is anchored, developed and disseminated.

During the next five to seven years it is ViFAB’s vision to work with the Knowledge Market Place through the following focus areas:

  • Ensuring that knowledge which is generated within this field is accessible to everyone.

  • Creating a consultancy where citizens and health care staff can obtain impartial and factual counselling on alternative therapies and herbal medicine.

  • Offering a competency upgrade for alternative practitioners to equip them with the qualifications needed to participate in and carry out research projects.

  • Establishing a research network for external research workers in order to strengthen and stimulate research into alternative medicine. Within the network research workers will be offered to participate in research courses and workshops on relevant interdisciplinary subjects with relevant internationally renowned researchers.

  • Participating in the foundation of a supplementary education programme within alternative therapy and herbal medicine. The educational programme will be research-based and maintain a high professional standard, which also makes it attractive to health care staff from other Nordic and European countries.

  • Applying for grants from foundations, private organizations and companies to translate ViFAB’s vision into action.
