Biopathy

Here you can read about biopathy. You can also find information on the use of biopathy in Denmark.

Biopathy is a Danish therapy, which was founded in the early 1980s by author and therapist Kurt Winberg-Nielsen.

Biopathy combines American biological medicine, German immune and symbiosis therapy and Scandinavian natural medicine.

The treatment aims to strengthen the self-healing mechanisms of the body by means of dietary advice and various therapeutic methods.

According to the Danish biopathic therapist association many users approach therapists with the following symptoms and conditions:

  • Asthma/allergy
  • Eczema
  • Inflammation (sinus, pelvic, bladder)
  • Rheumatic disorders
  • Circulatory diseases
  • Impaired immune response
  • Menstrual problems
  • Constipation/diarrhoea

According to the Danish biopathic therapist association you will soon experience an effect of biopathic treatment.

The biopathic therapist association emphasizes that you must participate actively throughout the entire process of treatment. Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that problems, which have lasted for a long time, do not go away overnight.

The Cochrane Library

The Cochrane Library is an international database, which collects and assesses scientific studies on the effectiveness of a treatment.

At present, the Cochrane Library contains no systematic reviews on the effect of biopathy.

ViFAB keeps abreast of any news in this field published by the Cochrane Library.

You should be aware that you might experience adverse effects in connection with biopathy.

Examples of such adverse effects are:

  • Local pain
  • Nausea
  • General malaise
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Increased secretion of sweat, urine and mucus
  • Diarrhoea
  • Slight rise in temperature

However, they are mostly lesser inconveniences, which quickly fade away.

Biopathy can involve herbal and dietary supplements. Some of these products can produce adverse effects.

When initiating a biopathic treatment it is important that you start off with a low dose of the various products.

Herbal and Dietary Supplements

Biopathy can involve herbal and dietary supplements. Some of these products can influence the effect of conventional drugs.

Biopathic therapist is a protected title. This means that a therapist can use this title only if he or she has completed the required training.

In Denmark biopathic therapists are not authorized.

When admitted to a Danish hospital you can choose to receive treatment from a biopathic therapist from outside.

You will have to pay for the treatment yourself.

In 2005 the National Institute of Public Health conducted a survey on the use of among other things biopathy in the Danish population.

Use of Biopathy

  • 0,2% of the Danish population has used biopathy within the previous year.
  • 1,0% of the Danish population has used biopathy at some point in life.

The Typical User

As yet there exist no surveys, which form at clear picture of the typical user of biopathy.
