Here you will find key figures from the National Health Interview Survey (SUSY) 2005 conducted by the National
Institute of Public Health (Statens Institut for Folkesundhed).

The survey includes answers from
14,566 Danes aged 16 or above.

Use of Alternative medicine

  • 22.5 percent have used alternative medicine within the previous year.
  • 45.2 percent have used alternative medicine at some point in life.

The Typical User

  • Woman 
  • 25-64 years of age
  • 13-14 years of schooling

Most popular types of therapies within the previous year

  • Massage, osteopathy or other manipulative techniques (13.2 percent)
  • Reflexology (6.1 percent)
  • Acupuncture (5.4 percent)
